"Déjà Vu" is a song by Romanian disc jockey Bob Taylor & Romanian dance/pop vocalist Inna. Released in summer 2009, the single appears on Taylor's sophomore studio album and on Inna's full-length record Hot (2009). The initial version of the song features Romanian singer Alessia. However, Inna recorded her own version.[1]
"Déjà Vu" was a commercial success, reaching the top-twenty in most of the countries it peaked. A music video for the single was shot by Bob Taylor in summer 2009 and premiered mid 2009 on MTV Romania. It presents him mixing in a club. Credited also as 'Inna featuring Bob Taylor' in selected countries, "Déjà Vu" was released internationally as the third single extracted from Inna's debut album. It is featured on the British dance compilation album Clubland 18.[2] The single sold 15,400 registered copies in France as of 2010.[3]

Spring 2009, Inna collaborated Taylor for his still untitled sophomore studio album.[4] After she recorded the guest vocals for "Déjà Vu", they decided to promote the song undercover. They sent it to the mainstream radio under the names of Anni (backwards to Inna) and Bob Taylor (known as Fizzy).[5][6] The single quickly became a hit in Europe and subsequently, Inna and Bob Taylor officially confirmed that they are the performers of the song. Shortly after they did so, Inna posted an article on her blog, where she says that "a song must have also success if its singers aren't known."[5]
Music video
The music video for "Déjà Vu" was shot early 2009 in Constanţa, Romania by Bob Taylor. While the clip shows Taylor performing in a club, Inna did not take part in the filming and does not appear in this video.[5] For the commercial release of the song in Europe, an alternative video has been released. It features Inna and uses footage of her photoshooting in Nessebar, a major seaside resort on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria.[7] This video was later edited for the British release and has been credited as 'Inna featuring Bob Taylor'. "Déjà Vu"'s music video was released on October 1, 2010 to music channels from UK to support the digital and physical release of the song.
Chart performance
After "Hot" and "Love", "Déjà Vu" was Inna's third top-ten success in her home country Romania. The song became a new entry on the Romanian Top 100 on June 17, 2009 and peaked at number-seven on August 21, 2009.[8] Early 2010, "Déjà Vu" also entered several European charts, including the Dutch Single Top 100 and the Belgium Singles Chart. On the Spanish Singles Chart, it debuted at number thirty-one on May 2, 2010 and climbed to number-fifteen on August 15, 2010. With a total of twenty-six non-consecutive weeks, "Déjà Vu" became Inna's longest charting song on the top-fifty of this chart. The song became a massive hit on the French Singles Chart as it debuted at number-six on September 11, 2010, while its predecessors "Amazing" and "Hot" simultaneously sat at number-eight and thirty-nine, respectively. In the UK, "Déjà Vu" was included on the compilation album Clubland 18 a week before its British release. Therefore, it was digitally avabile on iTunes a week earlier than its official launching date. Furthermore, "Déjà Vu" only debuted at number sixty-two and number-eight on the UK Singles Chart and the UK Dance Singles Chart, respectively. A week later on its official release, it climber to number-sixty. Early 2011, the song entered the Ö3 Austria Top 40, with it debuting at number twenty-five. This scores Inna's biggest debut on the chart, her first top-forty and her second song to enter the chart after "Amazing".
Live performance
Inna performed "Déjà Vu" at the Starfloor festival in France, where she accepted the Platinum award for her debut studio album "Hot". She sung "Deja Vu" live on Fama Revolution and at the Los 40 Principales aceremony in Spain. On December 28, 2010 and January 22, 2011, Inna performed the song in Kasho Club, Braşov and at the NRJ Music Awards, Cannes, respectively. During the NRJ Music Awards, she was nominated for the "Révélation internationale de l'année" ("Best New Act"). After Inna lost to Justin Bieber, she sang "Deja Vu" along her previous and still unreleased singles ("Hot", "Love", "Amazing", "Sun Is Up", "10 Minutes" and "We're Going in the Club").
