Algoso (also, Weed Patch)^[2] is an unincorporated community in Kern County, California.^[1] It is located on the railroad 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east-southeast of downtown Bakersfield,^[2] at an elevation of 430 feet (131 m).^[1]

The place was called Weed Patch until arrival of the railroad which changed the name to Algoso (Spanish for "weedy") to avoid confusion with Weedpatch.^[2]
