Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University is a public university located in Ghobra, Ghonapara, Gopalganj, Bangladesh.

History

Bangladesh was a province of Pakistan until 1971. After 1971 Bangladesh became the independent country. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the president. His birthplace is Gopalganj, a small district of Bangladesh. The people of Gopalganj had dream to make this town as ideal district for knowledge and technology. But after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, no ruler of Bangladesh took care of this district because it was the birthplace of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In 2009 his daughter Sheikh Hasina became the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the second time and declared the vision 2021 digital Bangladesh. So, it was logical to launch a digital vision from the birthplace of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. As a consequence the first digital research university was launched in Gopalganj from 2011.
