Barry Cowen is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.[1] He was elected as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Laois–Offaly constituency at the 2011 general election, and for Offaly at the 2016 election.[2]

He is married with four children and is an auctioneer and valuer.[3] He is the brother of former Taoiseach Brian Cowen. His father Bernard Cowen was also a TD.

Before his election to Dáil Éireann, he was a member of Offaly County Council for the Tullamore electoral area from 1991.[2]

He was the Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Social Protection from April 2011 to July 2012. In July 2012, he was appointed as party spokesperson on Environment and Local Government.
