Daltonganj railway station, station code DTO, is the railway station serving the Headquarter city of Medininagar (Daltonganj) and Palamau division in Palamau district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Daltonganj Station is also the headquarters of the Palamau division of the East Central Railway Zone of the Indian Railway. Daltonganj station is connected to most of the major cities in India by the railway network. Daltonganj is also the major station of CIC route and will also be the major station of Ranchi - New Delhi route after the opening of Ranchi-Tori rail line. There is also a new rail line construction project (Gaya-Daltonganj via Rafiganj) which will reduce the distance between Daltonganj and Gaya.
Daltonganj has trains running frequently to Delhi, Kolkata and Patna. The city is a major railway hub with stations including Daltonganj, Barwadih Junction railway station and Garwa Road railway station. Hotel Near Daltonganj Railway Station Is LX INN Hotel & Restaurant.
History
In 2003, the Dhanbad division was carved out from the existing Dhanbad railway division of the Eastern Railway Zone.[1] As of 2012 Daltonganj Station is being renovated and developed in the lines of Howrah junction railway station. The ceilings of the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) and the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) are being beautified with scenery. The facade of the Daltonganj station has been improved in February 2012.[2] In Feb Daltonganj Railway Station tickets counter has been changed to another side in 2012 because of public problems.
