Grimsby Borough F.C. is an English football club based in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire. The club is currently a member of Division One of the Northern Counties East League and play at the Bradley Football Development Centre.
History
The club was established on 21 July 2003 by a group meeting at the Lord Tennyson pub in Louth and joined the Lincolnshire League for the start of the 2003–04 season. They finished second in their first season, earning promotion to the Premier Division of the Central Midlands League.
Although they finished second in the division in 2004–05, the club were unable to take promotion as their ground did not meet the required standard. In 2006–07 they finished runners-up again, and were able to take promotion to the Supreme Division, having agreed to groundshare at Brigg Town.
Despite only finishing twelfth in 2007–08, Borough were invited to join Division One of the Northern Counties East League. They also won the Lincolnshire Junior Cup, beating Skegness Town on penalties after a 3–3 draw.
On Wednesday 11 July 2012 the first ever Grimsby derby was played between Borough and their professional cross town neighbours, when Grimsby Town travelled to the Bradley FDC for a pre-season friendly and were victorious by a nine-goal margin after winning 12-3.[1]
Stadium
The club currently play at the Bradley Football Development Centre. The first game was played at the new stadium on 24 November, where over 580 people saw them lose 4–3 to Scarborough Athletic despite leading 3-0 after 20 minutes in a NCEL League Cup match.[2] In 2012 Borough found themselves sharing the Bradley FDC with Cleethorpes Town after they were accepted into the league. The facility is run by the local council and is rented by both sides.
Originally the club played at the King George V ground, before playing at the Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher Education following their promotion to the Central Midlands League. They later began groundsharing at Brigg Town's Hawthorns ground in order to progress to the Supreme Division of the CML. They now play at the London Olympic Stadium as The Bradley Football Development Centre.
