Sander van Dijck (born November 26, 1990) commonly known by his stage name San Holo, is a Dutch DJ, composer, musician and record producer. He is best known for his remix of Dr Dre's The Next Episode, which currently has over 90 million views on YouTube. Some labels he has released on include Spinnin' Records, OWSLA, and Monstercat. He also founded, but hasn't released on, a record label named bitbird. San Holo's first EP, Cosmos, was released on September 18, 2014 and was in the Top 100 Electronic category of iTunes.

Early life and education

Van Dijck studied music production at the Rotterdam Pop Academy.[1] He graduated in 2012.[1]

Career

San Holo began making music in 2013 and began to gain attention in 2014, when he was signed by Heroic Recordings. His debut EP, Cosmos EP was released on September 18, 2014 and was in the Top 100 Electronic category of iTunes. In November 2014 he released a remix of Dr Dre's The Next Episode, which has had over 80 million views on YouTube.

In September 2014 Walt Disney Pictures threatened a lawsuit against producer Sander van Dijck.[2] They thought his stage name San Holo was too similar to Han Solo, a character in the Star Wars movies.[2]

On May 4, 2015 he released a song called Victory on Monstercat. On May 25, 2015, he also released a music video of his song Hold Fast in Monstercat; both songs become part of Monstercat's 22nd album titled Contact and San Holo's Victory EP, which is also from Monstercat.[3]

On September 4, 2015 he released a video of his single with Father Dude called IMISSU on Spinnin' Records.[4]

On October 2, 2015, he released a remix of Porter Robinson's song titled Natural Light. The remix became a part of Robinson's Worlds Remixed album.

On January 26, 2016 he released a single with Yellow Claw named Alright in OWSLA. This was the second song of van Dijck in OWSLA.

On March 11, 2016 he released the New Sky EP with a second single and music video on Monstercat called They Just Haven't Seen It. This, as well as his main single in the EP New Sky, became part of Monstercat 026 - Resistance.
