JAC Liner Inc. is one of the largest bus companies in the Philippines serving the riding public en route to Southern Tagalog provinces which includes key destinations in the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Marinduque and Northern Luzon (which is now operated by Solid North Transit Inc., a new subsidiary company).

History

JLI’s beginnings started in April 1987 as a sole proprietorship operating two (2) old second hand buses along Alabang-Fairview route. A family-owned backyard lot was the repair shop and offices.

In 1988, JLI acquired 8 additional 2nd hand buses from other bus operators. These were completely rehabilitated and made operational.

In May 1989, through the Bus Installment Purchase Program (BIPP) and later the BOI-IPP, JLI purchased 26 brand new buses. In the same year, JLI was also granted additional franchises along EDSA.

March 1992 was a milestone in the company’s history when it was formally incorporated with the corporate name of JAC LINER, INC.

In January 1994, JLI completely moved its operations to the Southern Tagalog regions, where, through its inherently superior services, it immediately established itself as one of the dominant and most trusted bus companies up to this day. To date, the company’s fleet has grown to 160 units.

Management

The year 2004 was a major watershed in the company‘s history when the founders decided to go on semi-retirement and pass on the day-to-day management of the company to their children, while retaining long-term policy-making functions of the corporation; the latter now call the entire shots in the Operations, Maintenance, Finance and Administrative departments.

Subsidiaries

In December , a wholly – owned subsidiary, Lucena Lines, Inc. was formed and now operates a fleet of more or less 60 buses on the Manila – Lucena line. It is operated completely independently from its parent company, with its own set of officers and employees, and with its own set of corporate objectives and strategies.

A new sister company called Solid North was formed under the license of De Leon Express, previously operated by bus operator, Dionisio R. de Leon, which serves Northern Luzon provinces.

In March 2014, JAC Liner took over the Sta. Cruz line of Green Star Express and bought its Yutong fleet. Months later, JAC Liner acquired the LRT/Buendia- Sta. Cruz franchise and branding, with buses being transferred from Lucena Lines to Laguna Express, Inc..

In the early part of 2015, JAC Liner took over the Pangasinan routes of Dagupan Bus Co., Inc & Fermina Express.

Recently, JAC Liner Inc. operated its city operation subsidiary, known as Metro Manila Bus Co., running the Baclaran-Fairview route.

The Fleet

JAC Liner Inc. runs ordinary and air conditioned bus units. Recently, the company has started to offer deluxe trips as well.

As of today , JAC Liner Inc. group is fielding buses powered by engines built by UD Nissan Diesel, Hino, MAN, and Yutong.
