KWWV (106.1 FM, "Wild 106.1") is a commercial radio station located in San Luis Obispo, California. KWWV airs a rhythmic Top 40 music format branded as "Wild 106.1". The station plays hits from Today's Most Popular artists.

Station history

KWWV dropped the Smooth Jazz format on 99.7 and signed on as "Kiss 99.7" with the current Rhythmic / CHR format in 1997. Ownership moved the format to 106.1 FM in Fall of 1999 for better signal coverage. The station eventually dropped the "Kiss" moniker after Clear Channel filed suit claiming ownership of the name "Kiss". For a period of time, KWWV was owned an operated by American General Media, before purchase by Clear Channel Communications.

After the demise of Clear Channel Communications-owned Mainstream CHR KSLY SLY 96, "Wild 106.1" moved to a more mainstream presentation, reclaiming the #1 spot in the Arbitron ratings with the age 18-34 female demographic. They air American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest on Saturdays at 8am and Sundays at 4 pm and Sunday Night Slow Jams with R Dub Sundays at 8 pm Pacific time.
