Karnana (Urdu: کرنانہ ) is a town and Union Council (U/C Karnana 73) of Gujrat District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan.[4] It is located[5] at 32°39'35"N, 73°52'0"E and has an altitude of 233 metres (767 feet).[6]
History of the region
After the decline of the Mughal Empire, the Sikhs invaded and occupied Gujrat District. During the period of British rule, Gujrat District increased in population and importance.
After the division of the subcontinent in 1947, the minority Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India and Muslim refugees from India settled in the Gujrat District. Now mainly Muslim families live in Karnana.
Geography
Approximately it is located 12.6 kilometers (7.8 mi) away from Lalamusa and 16.5 kilometers (10 mi) away from Dinga. It is a famous Town near to Lalamusa and Jaura. People of Karnana generally go to Lalamusa for shoping. The neighboring towns are Chechian, Pir Jand, Jaura, Ghurko, Miana Chak, Lambor, Umar Chak, Bhola, Rakdand, Sukh Chainah, Dhola, Ban Kalas, Bani, Bashna, Dinga, Lalamusa, Jalaldin, Ranian, and Paal.
Transportation
A railway line of Pakistan Railways passes through Karnana, linking Lalamusa, Dinga, Mandi Bahauddin and Sargodha. There is Private Railway Station had been Constructed by the Villagers in 1984 and started officially in 25 April 1984 It is Known as Akhtar Karnana Railway Station (Urdu: اختر کرنانہ ریلوے اسٹیشن ) .[7][8][9]
But now these days people prefers to travel in things like Cars, Motorcycles, Rickshaws etc.
Because of poor management of Railway.
