Kelambakkam is a rapidly growing suburb of Chennai in Tamil Nadu state in India. It is situated on the Old Mamallapuram Road (also known as the IT corridor/Rajiv Gandhi Salai).[1]

Tourist attractions include Kovalam beach, the old church for St. Mary in Kovalam, Thiruvidanthai Nithya Kalyana Perumal temple and Tiruporur Murugan Temple.

Kelambakkam attracts office workers from nearby SIPCOT siruseri IT/BPO companies.

One of the most important health centers in the region is Chettinad Health City. It houses a hospital and a nursing college called Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute (CHRI) under Chettinad University. Chettinad University attracts students not only from India but also other parts of Asia. Another prominent health care centre on the Vandalur Road is Praveena Hospital which provides outpatient services to people from areas nearby.

Famous Saibaba Temple is very nearby. Sri Siva Shankar Baba's Ashram called Sree Ramarajya is situated off the Vandalur Road in Kelambakkam. A residential area in Kelambakkam is Sathankuppam. Many nagars have been developed here, like Jothy Nagar, Jothy Nagar Welfare Land,ANNA NAGAR, Kanaga Parameshwaran Nagar, Balaji Nagar, Ajith nagar, Mogambigai Nagar, Susheela Nagar, Ganapathi nagar, Lakshmi Avenue, Krishna nagar, VIP Nagar, Sri Sai Vighar and Sri nagar, Srinivasa Nagar, Rajeshwari Nagar. Kelambakkam has a fish market.

The population in this area is around 20000.

Gowtham Venkat-A member of the LGBT community has opened up a civil rights centre here.

The Kelambakkam quarry is a trail for off-road enthusiasts from Chennai.

Kelambakkam is an important junction connecting the ECR (East Coast Road) and the GST (Grand Southern Trunk) Road; from Kovalam to Vandaloor Zoo. It also connects Mamallapuram and Adyar. From Kelambakkam, locations connected include (Thiruporur, Mamallapuram, Adyar, Vandalur Zoo, Tambaram, ,George Town, and Tidel Park). Kelambakkam has been a popular market for adjoining villages like Velichai and Pudupakkam. Today, Kelambakkam is better known than neighbouring thiruppor.
