Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology is located at C-4, Janakpuri in New Delhi, India. It is among the top engineering colleges of India. It has a campus spread over 8 acres (3.2 ha) of land. It is the engineering branch of the Maharaja Surajmal Institute. The college is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.[1]
History
Maharaja Surajmal Institute is a self-financing Institute. The Institute is situated at the heart of Janakpuri and is spread over 8 acres (3.2 ha) of land. The governing body of the institutes (MSI, MSIP and MSIT) is Surajmal Memorial Educational Society (SMES).
Maharaja Surajmal was born in 1707 in the erstwhile kingdom of Bharatpur. After the death of Churamal in 1721, his nephew Badan Singh became the ruler of Bharatpur. Surajmal was the most able son of Badan Singh. Badan Singh and his young son Surajmal through unity and integrity brought strength to the kingdom. He united various factions of Hindus and Muslims and kept them together. He was a secular king. He took care of the historical monuments built by the kings of other religions and employed people according to their abilities in higher posts, irrespective of their races. He believed to settle the disputes by peaceful negotiation as far as possible. He was a great leader, fighter, diplomat and statesman of his time. His authority was undisputed. He was a farsighted man, a good observant and vigilant listener. He was a man of versatile personality.
Recognition
All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi accorded approval to the following courses. The Institute is affiliated with G.G.S.I.P. University, New Delhi.[2]

New Delhi, 10 May 2014: Maharaja Surajmal Institute Of Technology was conferred with the National Employability Awards, (NEA) 2015 by Aspiring Minds, India’s leading employability measurement firm. The award was given in recognition of the college being among the top 10% of colleges in India with respect to employability. NEA 2015 is an initiative from Aspiring Minds, India’s foremost employability assessment company, to honour the top 10% engineering colleges in the country and in states for their highly employable talent pool basis AMCAT scores. The award has been given to us on the basis of employability of our students to succeed in various roles in the industry
Campus
This AICTE approved Institute under GGSIP University is ideally located in the Institutional area of Janakpuri, New Delhi. It has a campus spread over eight acres of land with beautiful eco-friendly surroundings. Institute was earlier operating from four storey building of 6279 sq.m of built up area. Recently it has been shifted to a more spacious seven storeyed building with built up area of 9660 sq.m The institute has over a short span of time acquired and developed impressive infrastructure, expertise and resources for imparting high quality engineering education.
Hostel
The Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Hostel provides accommodation to 250 students in a spacious and elegant four-storeyed building with all connected facilities. Hygienic and nutritious food is provided at a reasonable cost.

The Institution offers the following four year B.Tech degree courses at UG level approved by A.I.C.T.E. and affiliated to G.G.S.I.P. University, Delhi. MSIT is among top 3 colleges of IPU.

iEEE MSIT
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE, pronounced I triple E) is a professional association with its corporate office in New York City and its operations center in Piscataway, New Jersey. It was formed in 1963 from the amalgamation of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Radio Engineers. Today, it is the world's largest association of technical professionals with more than 400,000 members in chapters around the world. E-cell MSIT
Entrepreneurship-Cell is a non-profit organization run by the students of M.S.I.T. It seeks to foster the spirit of Entrepreneurship amongst aspirant entrepreneurs by exposing them to the joys and challenges of having their own ventures. http://ecellmsit.com/
Rotaract Club MSIT
Rotaract club originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, and has grown into a major Rotary-sponsored organization of over 9,539 clubs spread around the world and 219,397 members.[1][2] It is a service, leadership and community service organization for young men and women between the ages 18–30.[3]Rotaract focuses on the development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Clubs around the world also take part in international service projects, in a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world.[4]
Prakriti
Prakriti, the eco club of MSIT, was founded on 3 March 2010, in the wake of need for a college society that aims at promoting and increasing environmental consciousness, awareness and responsibility amongst the college youth and the populace.
As a non profitable society, Prakriti is committed to the belief that solutions are more effective and enduring when they involve mass local participation in planning and implementing projects.
Prakriti also exists to support and strengthen NGOs (such as Goonj) and rural or urban communities (like Lions’ Club) that work towards betterment of the society.http://www.prakriti.msit.in/

Co-curriculum activities
The college is an active member of IEEE society. The college annual technical fest AVENSIS is held every year in the month of March. Various seminars and discussion on technical issues are conducted. Genesis is cultural fest with heavy sponsorship. Prakriti-MSIT, one of the oldest societies of college, organises their own fest ENVA every year, which witnesses a huge turnout. It's The Only GGSIPU college to have E-cell to enhance Entrepreneurship culture among the students
Sports
The student athletics program offers various university-level sports along with annual sports meet. The College offers volleyball, cricket, basketball, table tennis and badminton facilities.
