Malaysia–Turkmenistan relations
Malaysia–Turkmenistan relations refers to a foreign relations between the two countries, Malaysia and Turkmenistan. Malaysia has an embassy in Ashgabat,[1] and Turkmenistan has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur.[2]
Economic relations
Currently, both Malaysia and Turkmenistan are looking to increase bilateral ties especially on the economic relations.[3] A number of documents also signed by both sides to forge closer ties between them.[4] Beside that, a number of Malaysian companies also keen to help especially on the tourism and infrastructure development.[5] In 2012, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has invited more Malaysian firms to search for business opportunities on his country.[6] The Malaysian company, Petronas has already operated on the country since 1996.[6] Malaysia also seeks to expand its halal food and the total trade between the two countries in 2013 was $33.13 million compared to $11.68 million in 2012 and $24.27 million in 2011.[7]
