The Marina Hotel and Casino was a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip that operated from 1975 to 1990 in Paradise, Nevada. When it opened in 1975, it was a 714-room hotel and casino. MGM Grand now stands on the property.

History

The Marina was one of buildings in Las Vegas that opens with hotel building in pre-1980s era. In 1989, Kirk Kerkorian bought the hotel and the Tropicana Country Club, behind the Marina and across Tropicana Avenue from Tropicana and San Rémo hotels. As Kerkorian saw the Marina as a stable and solidly built resort, Kerkorian decided not to destroy the hotel, but to build around it.^[1] The Marina closed its doors on November 30, 1990 and demolished on October 7, 1991, reopening as the MGM Grand in 1993.
