History
For decades, Malaysia had only one English language radio station, which was government-owned. Mix FM (along with Hitz FM and LiteFM) was launched into Malaysian FM airwaves in January 1997 after being one of Astro's audio-only channels since the launch of the satellite network in October the year before. TalkRadio and Classic Rock was also launched at the same time, but now had been replaced by radio stations in languages other than English. Originally, the radio station mainly focused on 1980s and 1990s music, but after the logo change in 2006, Mix FM has changed into a radio stations that plays adult contemporary music from the 1990s to now. The focus of 1980s and 1990s music has been moved to its sister station, LiteFM. Mix FM differs from other English radio stations in Malaysia because it plays current hits targeted at adult listeners compared to younger generation for other English language radio stations.
