TraXX FM is an English-language radio station operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia. It started broadcasting on 1 January 1950 as the Blue Network and the station broadcast nationwide thus reaching neighbouring Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand. The station operates 24-hours a day, with the news at every hour.

Etymology

The station was formerly known as Blue Network, Radio 4 and Radio Malaysia Channel 4. TraXX derives from the word 'TRACK' and the 'XX' denotes the old tagline 'Xperience the Xcitement'. TraXX FM tagline is 'Travel and Music' after re-branding to a tourism radio station. It then switched back to "Experience the Excitement" to suit its current role as an info-based radio.

History

The current name was in use since April 2005, as a part of rebranding of RTM's radio stations. It was Malaysia's only English radio station until the 1990s.

News broadcasts

As with all its sister channels, TRAXXfm broadcasts the news every hour.
