Type strain: strain spc-1 = gM-1 = ATCC BAA-824 = CIP 105776.
Basonym: Mycobacterium tuberculosis subsp. caprae Aranaz et al. 1999.
Other synonym: Mycobacterium bovis subsp. caprae (Aranaz et al. 1999) Niemann et al. 2002.
It can cause tuberculosis.[2]
