The Nassahegon State Forest, also spelled as Nassahegan State Forest,[4] is a Connecticut state forest located in the town of Burlington.[5] In addition to being actively managed for forestry purposes, the forest offers opportunities for hunting, hiking, and birdwatching and is crossed by the Blue-Blazed Trails system.[3]

Burlington Trout Hatchery

The Burlington Trout Hatchery, operated by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, is located on Belden Road in the Nassahegon State Forest. The facility includes a building for egg incubation, fish pools and ponds, and a short nature trail. Opened in 1923, the hatchery raises brown trout and rainbow trout that are distributed into state lakes, ponds, rivers and streams with public access.[6] The hatchery is open to the public daily and admission is free.
