Wharton Brook State Park is a Connecticut state park located off U.S. Route 5 in the towns of North Haven and Wallingford. In the early 1900s, the park was a precursor of the modern highway rest stop and in addition to picnic grounds had a service area for automobiles.[3]
Activities and amenities
The park contains a medium-sized lake fed by Wharton Brook. Fishing and swimming are permitted at the park, and there are several large picnic areas. The park is a Connecticut designated trout park[3] and is stocked several times per year with trout. Blue herons and other wildlife are often seen.
Sleeping Giant State Park is located two miles to the west, Quinnipiac River State Park but one.
