Okja is an upcoming South Korean-American science fiction horror monster film directed by Bong Joon-ho and co-written by Bong and Jon Ronson. The film stars Ahn Seo-hyun, Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Steven Yeun, Lily Collins, Devon Bostick, Byun Hee-bong, and Shirley Henderson.

Plot

A young girl named Mija risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend — a massive animal named Okja.

Bong Joon-ho's next movie will be the multilingual monster movie Okja, which is expected to feature a Korean female lead and a cast of English-speaking supporting actors, whose scenes will be set in New York. [1] On November 10, 2015 it was picked up by Netflix and Plan B Entertainment with a budget of $50 million with a production start in late 2016 for release in 2017.[2] Darius Khondji joined the film as cinematographer in February 2016.[3] In March 2016 it was announced that Lily Collins had joined the cast in one of the lead roles.[4]

Principal photography began on April 22, 2016 in Seoul, South Korea.[5][6]
