Prachi Desai (born 12 September 1988[1]) is an Indian Bollywood film and television actress. She started her television career as the lead protagonist in successful TV drama Kasamh Se on Zee TV. She made her Bollywood career with the 2008 film Rock On!!. Her other notable features includes Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), Bol Bachchan (2012) and I, Me Aur Main (2013). She is also the endorser, spokesperson, brand ambassador and the face of Goa Tourism and Neutrogena products in India.[3] Desai also a brand ambassador of Luxlyra.
Early life and background
Prachi Desai was born in Surat, Gujarat to Niranjan Desai and Ameeta Desai. She has one sister named Esha Desai.[4]
Desai has studied in St. Joseph Convent,[5] Panchgani and completed her schooling till ninth grade in Surat. She has completed her higher studies in Sinhagad College in Pune.[6]
Career
2006 brought a new turn in Prachi's life when she got selected to play the lead role in Ekta Kapoor's television drama Kasamh Se, she was cast as Bani, opposite TV actor Ram Kapoor.[7][8] The show won her several awards including the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.
Prachi then entered Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa the Indian version to BBC Strictly come dancing on September 7, 2007 with Choreographer Deepak Singh. Prachi impressed the judges every week, but was ultimately eliminated on November 10, 2007 but entered the contest again via the Wildcard entry on November 23, 2007. Prachi then landed a spot in the Grand Finale of the dance show on December 15, 2007 and won the 1st place against her other contestants. Prachi Desai was awarded the Dancing star of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa[9]
Also She Worked in The TV Series Kasauti Zindagi Ki as (Prachi Chauhan) her role was Cameo Only She also did a two-day cameo in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, which was aired on Star Plus. She played a school student in Prerna’s school.
Desai then made a transition to the film industry in 2008. Her first film was Rock On!! (2008), directed by Abhishek Kapoor, where she played the wife of Farhan Akhtar.[2] Desai had to leave Kasamh Se to act in Rock On.[7]
Her next film was Life Partner (2009).[10] In July 2010, she appeared in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai with Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut.[11]
She back in 2012 with Two Films Teri Meri Kahaani She did a Cameo role.[12] Prachi then appeared in full-fledged role in Bol Bachchan
opposite Abhishek Bachchan, along with Ajay Devgn and Asin.[13]
The film proved to be the biggest box office success for Prachi till date.[14]
Her next films for 2013 was I, Me Aur Main with John Abraham, Chitrangada Singh,[15] and She did another Film Policegiri Starring With Sanjay Dutt[16] after that in 2014 She appeared In Item Number For EK VILLAIN in a song called "Awari"[17]
in 2015 Prachi Selected to playing former cricket captain Azharuddin’s wife Naureen in his biopic film Azhar [18] and she will again play the wife of Farhan Akhtar
in Rock On!! 2 the sequel of Rock On!![19] the two films should releases in 2016[20][21]
