The 1947 partition of India caused a division of population generally along religious lines. The main religions of the region are Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism. The Punjabi Muslim Rajputs are mostly in Pakistani Punjab, while both the Hindu and Sikh Rajputs are mainly found in Indian Punjab.
