History

2005-2007: San Francisco Pilots

The San Francisco Pilots was a team in the American Basketball Association. The Pilots began play on November 15, at Kezar Pavilion, in San Francisco. The team posted a great record in the months of November and December and had a lot of local media attention going into the home-stretch. However, due to a steam pipe leakage at Kezar,[1] the team was forced to cancel numerous games and move others to Potrero Hill. The Pilots resumed play against Aoshen Olympian in Maywood then continued a home and home series in San Francisco. The Pilots were selected as the "West Alternate" for the ABA playoffs, however the team was not asked to participate in the tournament, and going into the offseason, the future of the franchise was uncertain. The team is assumed defunct.

2007-present: San Francisco Rumble

In 2007, a local attorney purchase the market rights from the American Basketball Association to establish the San Francisco Rumble.

2010 Season

The Rumble lost their 2010 season opener against the San Diego Surf, 140-123.[2]
