Shaheer Sheikh is a lawyer turned Indian television actor and model.[5]
He is best known for his lead role Vir Mehra in the series Kya Mast Hai Life and as Anant Bajpai in Navya..Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal.[6]
He has also played the role of Nana Sahib in the show Jhansi Ki Rani.[7] He was also seen as Arjuna in the popular historical show Mahabharat.[8]
Currently, he is seen in Yash A Patnaik's show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi.[9]
He also worked in one Indonesian film Turis Romantis and appeared in two seasons of the show Cinta di Langit Taj Mahal.[10] He also hosted few Indonesian shows which include Asia's Got Talent and Panah Asmara Arjuna.
Life and family
Shaheer Sheikh was born on 26 March 1984 into a Muslim family.[2] He was born in Bhaderwah district of the Jammu region, Jammu and Kashmir to Mr.Shahnawaz Sheikh and Mrs.Dilshad Sheikh.[3] He has completed his schooling from Hari Singh Higher Secondary School, Jammu.[11] He has done his graduation in Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) from New Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune.[12] He also owns an event management company.[13] As per reports, Sheikh was dating popular Indonesian singer Ayu Ting Ting aka Ayu Rosmalina for four months.[14] But Ayu Ting Ting being a single mother Sheikh was unable to continue their relation and they broke up.[15][16] Sheikh looks up to his mother and owes her for his succcess.[17]
Career
Sheikh started his television career with the television series, Sanya where he played Arjun Shekhawat, Sanya's love interest. However his first ever noticeable role was in the show, Kya Mast Hai Life.[18] He played the role of Veer Mehra, a teenager who loves music and playing guitar.[18] After second season of the show ended, Sheikh was seen in Jhansi Ki Rani.[19] He played Nana Sahib, brother of Rani of Jhansi.[19]
In 2011, Sheikh was approached to play the lead in Swastik Productions' television show, Navya..Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal opposite Saumya Seth.[20] He played Anant Bajpai, a 19 year old college boy who looks like any other urban boy but deep down he is a traditionalist and a conformist.[20] In 2011, he appeared in song "Teri Palkey" of A. M. Turaz video album Ek Ladki Shabnami Jaisi.[21] Alongside Navya, Sheikh worked in Disney Channel's show Best Of Luck Nikki where he played the role of Riteish.[22]
In 2012, Sheikh also appeared in the telefilm Honeymoon shown in Star Plus' show Teri Meri Love Stories opposite Mahhi Vij.[23] He played Nityanand Chaturvadi who was a poor orphan and secretly loves his boss daughter Saloni.[24] In 2013, he signed Swastik Productions' Mahabharat.[25] He played the role of Arjuna, an incredible archer, a warrior prince and the third Pandava in the mythological show.[26] The role of Arjuna got him several awards and nominations and also lot of appreciation.[27] Mahabharat ended in August 2014.[28][29]
Sheikh's potrayal of the character of Arjuna got him opportunity for various Indonesian projects.[30] In 2014, he hosted two Indonesian reality shows along with his costars from Mahabharat which were Panah Asmara Arjuna and The New Eat Bulaga! Indonesia.[31][32] In 2015, he acted in a fiction show, featured in a film and hosted yet another reality show. He hosted the reality show Asia's Got Talent co-hosted Marc Nelson.[33] He also appeared in two seasons of the fiction show, Cinta di Langit Taj Mahal alongside Ravi Bhatia as Rehan Syahputra.[34] In 2015, he became one of the top 50 sexiest Asian men in an annual poll conducted by UK-based weekly newspaper Eastern Eye.[35]
In 2015, Sheikh featured in an Indonesian film named Turis Romantis alongside Kirana Larasati and Mike Muliadro.[36] He played the role of Azan Khan, an Indian tourist who is guided by Nabil.[36] In 2016, Sheikh signed Yash Patnaik's television show, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi alonside Erica Fernandes and Supriya Pilgaonkar.[37] He plays the role of Dev Dixit, a young and successful business tycoon who is extremely close to his mother Ishwari and feels indebted to her but when Sonakshi enters his life he realises that his mother doesn’t approve of his love for Sonakshi.[38]
