Tripoto is a travel community and travel search engine portal based on user-generated content .[1][2][3] The platform was launched on October 2013 by founders Anirudh Gupta and Michael Pargal Lyngdoh. Tripoto allows users to write travel stories and discover those written by other travelers.
History
Michael and Anirudh came up with the idea of Tripoto while pursuing MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad [4] Before this, Gupta, who is an Indian Institute of Technology Delhi alumnus, had co-founded another Startup company called Notion Ink. He had also been the Entrepreneur in Residence at Rocket Internet in Dubai for a year. Lyngdoh has a Master of Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, and had earlier founded a start-up in the Space-based solar power.
Funding
In 2014, Tripoto raised a Seed money from prominent Angel investor that include the founders of Snapdeal, Makemytrip institutional investors, Outbox Ventures and Palaash Ventures.[5][6][7] In March 2015, the company raised another round of investment from IDG Ventures.[8][9] In October 2015 Tripoto raises its third round of funds from IDG Ventures and 500 Startups.[10][11][12][13][14]

Some of the company’s current partners and clients include Airbnb, Wildcraft, Canon Inc., Expedia, Inc., Booking.com, Agoda.com and TUI Group.
Platforms
Tripoto.com is running on two platforms as web/mobile website and Android/iOS mobile app.
Web & Mobile Website
- Users can find and read a curated list of travel accounts written by travellers these are stories that offer recommendations and tips.
- After creating an account, users can write their own stories, upload pictures from their trips and offer advice to help others plan their vacation.
- With a chat function, users can exchange messages with each other.
- With a Tripoto Artificial intelligence function, users can ask their queries related to travel.[15]
Mobile App
In January 2015, Tripoto launched its iOS and Android app. As of August 2015, it has approximately 250,000 downloads on the Google Play and App Store (iOS).
