The United States Senate election of 1880 was an election which conicided with the presidential election of 1880, and which had the Democratic Party lose five seats in the United States Senate, causing it and the Republican Party to have the same number of seats, leading to a Senate without a clear majority Party; but the Republican Party did hold the Vice-Presidency.
As this election was prior to ratification of the seventeenth amendment, Senators were chosen by State legislatures.
