Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College or VRSEC was the first private institution to offer undergraduate education in engineering in Andhra Pradesh, India. It consistently is ranked in the top 50 best engineering colleges in India rankings. The college was approved to be an autonomous institution by Acharya Nagarjuna University in the year 2006

Background

Named after the eminent industrialist and former Indian Civil Service (ICS) officer, Velagapudi Ramakrishna, the College was founded in 1977 and has a reputation for engineering education in Andhra Pradesh.Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College is a self-financing institute established in the year 1977. Dr. A.V Ratna Prasad, an eminent professor is the Principal of the VRSEC.

Location

The institution is located in a large expanse of 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land in Kanuru on the outskirts of Vijayawada city at a distance of about 6 km from the city centre, on the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam Highway (NH 9). The buildings are located in close proximity to each other with wide open spaces all around. The playing fields and other student and staff amenities are within walking distance of the faculty blocks.

The Training and Placement Cell was started in the year 2004 by a group of 4 final-year students. With their efforts they got the first campus interview of the company Satyam Computer Services Ltd. The number of students selected rose from 21 during (2005–06) to 579 (2010–11).
