The 1999–2000 season was Toronto's fifth season in the team's franchise.[1] Former Charlotte Hornets 5'3" point guard Muggsy Bogues was added to the roster during the offseason. Before the start of the season, first round draft pick and high schooler Jonathan Bender was traded to the Indiana Pacers for Antonio Davis. The Raptors improved and qualified for their first playoff appearance with a 45-37 record, finishing third in the Central Division. In the postseason, they were swept in the first round by the New York Knicks in three straight games.

Vince Carter led them with 25.7 points per game. He also won the Slam Dunk Contest during the All-Star Weekend in Oakland and was selected for the 2000 NBA All-Star Game. Following the season, Tracy McGrady was traded to the Orlando Magic and Doug Christie was traded to the Sacramento Kings.

The team's season roster is featured in the video game NBA 2K16.[2]

Vince Carter

Vince Carter was selected to an All-Star Team for the first time, and showcased his athleticism and dunking abilities in the 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He won the contest by performing an array of dunks including a 360° windmill, a between the legs, and an "elbow dunk."[4] Though he has not competed in the dunk contest since, Carter has been voted into the Eastern Conference NBA All-Star Team starting lineup several times through fan balloting.[5]
