The 2016–17 season will be the 139th year in the history of English football club Wolverhampton Wanderers. The club will compete in the second tier of the English football system, the Football League Championship for a third consecutive year.

Fixtures

Football League Championship

A total of 24 teams will compete in the Football League Championship in the 2016–17 season. Each team will play every other team twice, once at their stadium, and once at the opposition's. Three points are awarded to teams for each win, one point per draw, and none for defeats.

The provisional fixture list will be released on 15 June 2016, with the opening day of the season taking place on 6 August 2016.[1]

FA Cup

As a Championship team, Wolves will enter the competition at the third round proper stage in January 2017.

League Cup

As a Championship team, Wolves will enter the competition at the first round stage in August 2016.
