2016–17 North West Counties Football League
The 2016–17 North West Counties Football League season will be the 35th in the history of the North West Counties Football League, a football competition in England. Teams are divided into two divisions: Premier Division and Division One.
Much of this page can only be regarded as speculative until the 2016–17 constitution of the North West Counties Football League has been confirmed at the league's AGM in June 2016. In particular:
- allocation of promoted and relegated teams may be subject to FA decision, as may sideways moves both into and out of NWCFL
- allocations can be affected by voluntary demotions, forced demotions, resignations, liquidations, etc

- New Mills, relegated from NPL D1N
- Hanley Town, Irlam and the play-off winners, promoted from Division One

Promotion criteria
To be promoted at the end of the season a team must:
- Have applied to be considered for promotion by 30 November 2016
- Pass a ground grading examination by 31 March 2017
- Finish the season in a position higher than that of any other team also achieving criteria 1 and 2
- Finish the season in one of the top three positions[1]

- Three teams, yet to be determined, relegated from the Premier Division
- Possibly one or more of the following clubs, which have submitted applications to join this division.[2] All applications are subject to meeting all necessary conditions, and to FA approval.
- Charnock Richard from West Lancashire League
- Prestwich Heys from Manchester League
- Sandbach United from Cheshire League
- Carlisle City from Northern Football Alliance
- Whitehaven Amateurs from Wearside League
- Stone Old Alleynians from West Midlands (Regional) League
- FC Oswestry Town, a new club
- City of Liverpool, a new club
