44th Australian Parliament

The Forty-fourth Australian Parliament is the current meeting of the legislative branch of the Australian federal government, composed of the Australian House of Representatives and the Australian Senate. It first sat on 12 November 2013 in Canberra, following the 2013 General Election. The 2013 elections gave the Liberal/National Party Coalition control of the House of Representatives and consequently led to the appointment of Tony Abbott as the 28th Prime Minister of Australia.
