Bageshwar is a city and a municipal board in Bageshwar district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is also the administrative headquarters of Bageshwar district.[1]

Geography

Bageshwar is located at 29°29′N 79°27′E / 29.49°N 79.45°E / 29.49; 79.45.[2] It has an average elevation of 1,004 m (3,294 ft).

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[3] Bageshwar had a population of 7803. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Bageshwar has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 58% of the males and 42% of females literate. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
