Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC) is a private engineering college in Durgapur named after legendary physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, located in Bardhaman district, West Bengal, about 200 kilometers from the capital city of Kolkata, India. It was established on 21 August 2000 with its first batch of students. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering, Technology and Management. The college is affiliated under All India Council for Technical Education and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). It is regarded as one of the best engineering colleges in West Bengal.

The Campus

The campus is on more than 25 acres of land, 1,089,000 square feet (101,200 m2) with classrooms, workshops, labs, library,small gardens, hostels, cafeteria and food stations (canteens), banking facilities having ATMs of SBI & Axis bank apart from fully operational SBI bank branch, play fields, recreation centers for cultural activities, meditation center, medical facilities, multi gym, wbut learning center, internet facilities,Temple,Parking Lots.

Approval and affiliation

The college has received approval from the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal as a center of higher education and approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. It is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology. Three branches EE, CSE and ECE got NBA accreditation in 2008. ME and other branches will get NBA accreditation soon.

Central Library & Book Bank

The Central Library, named after the physicist Dr. Meghnad Saha, offers over 70,592 Volumes, journals and over 3242 CD-ROMs / DVDs relating to books for students and faculty to use.This library is a three-storied building, with reading rooms. It has a computerized study center for 70 students with DELNET and Internet connectivity.

Besides the Central Library, students can draw books (one book for each subject in the syllabus for each individual student) from the Book Bank for retention for the whole semester i.e. six months.

Accommodation

BCREC, being open to residents and day-scholars, has halls of residence for male and female students located within the Campus.There are three boys hostels namely Satyen Bose Hall of Residence, Aurobindo Boys Hostel & Chittranjan Boys Hostel(Specially for 1st Year Boys) and two girls hostels namely Mother Teresa Hall of Residence and Nivedita Girls Hostel(specially for 1st year girls).Each hostel has a, common room, outdoor and indoor recreation, medical services, guest room for guardians etc.In campus residential flats for Professors and highly officials is located beside the girls hostel.
