Egarkunr is a census town in Nirsa CD Block in Dhanbad district in the state of Jharkhand, India.
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Egarkunr had a population of 11,829, of which 6,100 were males and 5,729 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 3,670 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 743.[1]
As of 2001 India census,[2] Egarkunr had a population of 10,212. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Egarkunr has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 41%. In Egarkunr, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Egarkunr was 7,254 out of which 4,223 were males and 3,031 were females.[1]
