Miss Latin America 1986
Miss América Latina 1986 was the fourth international edition of the Miss América Latina contest, and the sixth overall. The final event was held on October 16, 1986 in San José, Costa Rica. At the conclusion of the pageant, Lucia Collado of the Dominican Republic was crowned by outgoing titleholder, Victoria Mauríz, also of the Dominican Republic.[1]

- Brazil placed for the first time.
- Colombia placed for the fourth time in a row.
- Panama and Venezuela placed for the third time in a row.
- Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic placed for the second time in a row.
- Chile last placed in 1983, while Bolivia and Mexico last placed in 1984.
- This was the second of three victories for the Dominican Republic. It was also not only the first time a territory won a second Miss Latin America title, but also the first and, as of 2011, only time a territory won two back-to-back titles.
- Colombia achieved its highest placement (as first runner-up) up to that point. It would later match the placement in 2000, 2001 and 2003. Colombia would finally win, beating this placement, in 2010.
- Panama matched its best placement, previously achieved in 1985.
- Costa Rica matched its fourth runner-up placement achieved in 1986, the territory's highest placement up to that point.
