The 2018 New York gubernatorial election will take place on November 6, 2018, to elect the Governor of New York, as well as elections to the United States Senate in other states and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections.
Incumbent Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo is eligible to for re-election to a third term in office but has not yet announced his plans.
Background
Incumbent Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo decided to seek re-election in 2014 to a second term in office. Governor Cuomo defeated the Republican nominee, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, 54% to 40%.
