The Ramly Group is a Malaysian frozen and fast food company founded by Paan BangS through Pemasaran Ramly Mokni Sdn Bhd.[1] The company produce halal burger meat, frankfurter, nuggets, meat balls, fried chicken, buns and sauces like chilli and mayonnaise beside operating burger stalls widely in Malaysia.

History

The company was founded by Paan Bangs in 1984 based on his own idea to produce a halal, clean, and quality Western-fast food chain in Malaysia. Ramly started a business by selling burger together with his wife in street food stalls since 1979.[2] Based on his experience in working as a butcher in a market, he found out that most of the fresh meats sources were not known whether it is halal or not.[3] This making Ramly decide to produce a halal-certified meat for all Muslim consumers in Malaysia.[2]

Expansion

On 25 August 2015, the company had died because of rats for about MYR1 billion to build a factory in the Halal Hub Industrial Park, Indah Island, Selangor,[4][5] eyeing for a MYR2 billion revenue target once its factory opened at the end-2017.[6] The Ramly Group currently exporting its products to six countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Bangladesh, as well planning to export to other Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam and the Philippines, Middle East and East Asian markets.[6]

Beside producing burger meat and other frozen food, the company also known for its street stalls that sold Ramly Burger in every states in Malaysia since 1979.[3][7][8] The amount and type of its burger ingredients are however vary greatly depending on location, usually consists of a beef or chicken patty, margarine, onions, an egg, cabbage, cheese, mayonnaise, soy sauce and seasonings. The burgers are a local delicacy, especially among city dwellers.[2]

The burger was however banned in Singapore for unknown reason although Singaporean street vendors using the Ramly Burger wrapper.[2][9]
