Pre-season
Monthly Review
Club Information
May
On 6 May Rangers announced that Andrew Little had been released from the club after being informed he was not in the first team plans.[1]
On 22 May Rangers confirmed that Chris Hegarty will leave the club after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
Also on that day it was confirmed Emílson Cribari was no longer at the club.[2]
June
On 4 June Kenny Miller signed for Rangers in his third spell at the club on a one-year deal.[3]
On 11 June Rangers signed St Mirren defender Darren McGregor.[4]
On 25 June Ex-Heart of Midlothian defender Ismaël Bouzid began a short-term trial at the club.[5]
On 27 June Rangers signed Kris Boyd on a one-year deal.[6]
Also on that day Rangers cancelled Ross Perry's contract by mutual consent.[7]
July
On 2 July Rangers announced that Marius Žaliūkas started a second trial period at the club.[8]
On 11 July Steve Simonsen re-joined Rangers on a 1-year deal after spending last season at the club.[9]
Also on that day Marius Žaliūkas joined Rangers as a free agent, most recently at Leeds United on a 2-year deal.[10]
On 16 July goalkeeper Scott Gallacher left the club.[11]
May
On 29 May Rangers confirmed they will prepare for the 2014–15 Scottish Championship campaign with a visit to Northern Scotland and a 12-day trip to the United States and Canada.[12]
June
On 5 June Kenny Miller officially unveiled the new third kit.[13]
On 18 June Rangers learned they will kick-off the Scottish Championship campaign against Heart of Midlothian at Ibrox Stadium.[14]
On 20 June former Rangers physio Tommy Craig, who was part of the backroom staff when the club won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972, died.[15]
On 25 June Rangers returned to Murray Park for pre-season training.[16]
July
On 2 July the draw for the Scottish Challenge Cup was made and Rangers were drawn against Scottish Championship newcomers Hibernian.[17]
On 9 July HM Revenue and Customs lost its appeal over Rangers' use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs).[18]
On 16 July Rangers Football Club paid tribute to Sandy Jardine by renaming the Govan Stand at Ibrox Stadium in his honour.[19]
On 17 July Kris Boyd, Lee McCulloch and Lewis Macleod presented the new home kit.[20]
On 21 July Rangers set up a nominations committee to review applications and nominate a shortlist of supporters for election to the Fans Board. Including David Weir, Scottish rugby international Alastair Kellock, Reverend Stuart MacQuarrie and five Rangers supporters.[21]
On 25 July Philip Nash was appointed to the Board of Rangers ("Board").[22]
On 29 July Rangers launched a Club Membership Scheme "to bring supporters closer than ever to their Club."[23]
August
On 25 August Rangers signed free agent Lee Robinson until the end of the season.[24]
October
On 24 October the Company announced that Chief Operating Officer Philip Nash resigned from the Board of Rangers ("Board") with immediate effect.[25]
On 29 October Rangers appointed former Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias and Sports Direct executive Barry Leach as Consultants.[26]
On 30 October David Somers non-executive Chairman, became Executive Chairman of Rangers on a temporary basis with immediate effect.[27]
November
On 3 November the Board of Rangers announced that it had appointed Derek Llambias as a non-executive director.[28]
On 9 November Lewis Macleod was handed the SPFL Young Player of the Month award for October.[29]
December
On 10 December Norman Crighton left his role as a non-executive director at Rangers.[30]
On 12 December Ally McCoist tendered his resignation as Rangers manager.[31]
On 19 December Rangers announced the appointment of existing board member Derek Llambias as their new Chief Executive Officer.[32]
On that same day, Executive Chairman David Somers reverted to his previous role as non-executive Chairman.[32]
On 21 December Rangers announced that Ally McCoist is relinquishing his duties as Manager and will serve out the remainder of his 12-month notice period on gardening leave.[33]
On 22 December Rangers held their Annual General Meeting at Ibrox Stadium.[34]
On 23 December Rangers confirmed that new Caretaker Manager Kenny McDowall will be joined by new Assistant Manager Gordon Durie and club Captain Lee McCulloch taking up the position of First Team/Player Coach. Ian Durrant will now take up the role of Reserve and Under 20's Manager.[35]
On 31 December Rangers confirmed Lewis Macleod will sign for Brentford F.C. for an undisclosed fee on 3 January when the transfer window opens.[36]
On that same day Rangers confirmed that several of the clubs younger players who have been out on loan the first half of the season have returned to the club following successful spells away from the club.[37]
January
On 5 January Rangers appointed club consultant Barry Leach as their new finance director.[38]
On 19 January Kenny McDowall tendered his resignation as caretaker manager of Rangers Football Club, citing personal reasons for stepping down.[39]
On 21 January Rangers confirmed that Arnold Peralta’s contract was terminated by mutual consent.[40]
On 24 January Rangers confirmed that after a scheduled 11:30am pitch inspection, today’s SPFL Championship game against Cowdenbeath at Central Park has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.[41]
February
On 2 February Rangers bolstered the Ibrox squad with the loan signings of Newcastle United players Kevin Mbabu, Haris Vučkić, Remie Streete, Shane Ferguson and Gaël Bigirimana until the end of the season.[42]
On 25 February Bus tycoon James Easdale resigned as a Rangers director following opposition from the Scottish Championship club's supporters.[43]
March
On 2 March David Somers resigned as Chairman of Rangers.[44]
On 6 March The Company held an EGM at 11am. Shareholders approved the appointment of Dave King as Non-executive chairman, Paul Murray as Interim chairman / Non-executive director and John Gilligan as a Non-executive director of Rangers International Football Club plc with immediate effect. Mr King indicated prior to the meeting that he would not take up the appointment at this time. Shareholders voted Chief executive officer Derek Llambias and Finance director Barry Leach off the board.[45]
Also on that day, a Board meeting was held in which, Douglas Park, was appointed to the Board as a Non-executive director.[46]
On 10 March John Bennett and Chris Graham were appointed as Non-executive directors of RIFC with immediate effect and James Blair was appointed Company Secretary of RIFC with immediate effect.[47]
On 11 March, The Rangers Football Club Limited confirmed that matters were resolved with Sandy Easdale on an amicable basis. Mr Easdale agreed to resign from his directorships with the Group with immediate effect.[48]
On 12 March Rangers confirmed that Stuart McCall was appointed as the 14th Manager of the club on a short term contract until the end of the season. Kenny Black was appointed as Assistant Manager.[49]
Also on that day, Kenny McDowall left Rangers as Caretaker Manager.[50]
On 13 March Rangers Non-executive director Chris Graham of The Rangers International Football Club plc board resigned amid controversy over a tweet he sent to radical Islamic leader Anjem Choudary on the day of the Charlie Hebdo shooting.[51]
On 31 March Rangers International Football Club plc announced their Interim Results for the six-month period to 31 December 2014.[52]
April
On 1 April Rangers interim Chairman Paul Murray passed the Scottish FA's 'Fit and Proper' test.[53]
On 2 April Rangers International Football Club plc was delisted from the AIM Stock Exchange.[54]
May
On 19 May Dave King passed the Scottish FA's 'Fit and Proper' test to become the new Chairman of Rangers.[55]
On 20 May Rangers announced the winners of their annual player awards. Darren McGregor won Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year, Andy Murdoch won Young Player of the Year and Lewis Macleod won Goal of the Season.[56]
On 22 May Rangers International Football Club PLC announced that Dave King was appointed Chairman of the Board. Mr King takes over from Paul Murray, who was appointed Interim Chairman when a new Board was formed after the General Meeting on March 6.[57]
On 23 May the club announced that they had named John Greig as Honorary Life President of Rangers.[58]
On 26 May The Board of Directors of Rangers International Football Club PLC (the "Company") agreed to call a General Meeting on Friday 12 June, Ibrox Stadium at 10.30am at which an amended Resolution from MASH Holdings Limited will be placed alongside a Resolution from your Board.[59]
On 31 May Rangers failed in their attempt to reach the Scottish Premiership as Motherwell saw them off 6–1 on aggregate in the play-off final. They will remain in the Scottish Championship next season.[60]
