Akal Takht Express is a popular Indian Railways express train connecting eastern Indian city of Kolkata with northern Indian city of Amritsar. It is a superfast class train travelling 1,900 kilometers at an average speed of 63 km/hr. It has sleeper, third AC, second AC, general type of coaches. Pantry car facility is not available with this train.[1][2]
Route
It commences its journey from the Sealdah railway station of Kolkata and travels through the Indian states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab to reach Amritsar Junction of Punjab.
Important stations
Important stations through which it passes are Asansol, Jasidih, Jhajha, Patna, Mughal Sarai, Varanasi, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Ambala cantt., Ludhiana, and Jalandhar.
Timings
The 12317 Akal Takht express leaves Sealdah terminus and reaches Amritsar Junction. Similarly 12318 Akal takht express leaves Amritsar Junction and reaches Sealdah terminus.
Reservations
All its classes except general requires advanced reservation. General class coaches can be boarded with a general daily ticket available from respective stations.
