The Udhna Varanasi Express (train codes: 19057/19058) is a Mail/Express express train on Indian Railways' broad gauge network, connecting Udhna, near Surat, and Varanasi. The total one way travel distance is approximately 1,399 kilometres (869 mi). The Express was introduced in rail budget 2012-13.

Schedule and route

As of September 2012, the Udhna Varanasi Express runs one day a week, departing Udhna Friday at 09:05 pm and arriving Varanasi 28 hours later, on Sunday at 01:10 am. Reverse trips from Varanasi to Udhna departing Sunday at 05:25 am and arriving Monday at 11:45 am. The train averages 49 kilometres per hour (30 mph) in UDN-BSB direction and 46 kilometres per hour (29 mph) in BSB-UDN direction.[1]

The train passes through the Indian states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Stops include Jalgaon, Khandwa, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Manikpur, and Cheoki.[1]

Rake and locomotive

Udhna Varanasi Express has, on a regular basis, at least 18 carriages. It is powered by a single WAP-4 electric locomotive between Udhna and Itarsi Junction, and one diesel locomotive (either WDM-3A or WDM-3D from Itarsi Junction to Varanasi.[1]
