The Sanghamitra Express is a Superfast train which runs daily between Bangalore City Railway Station in Bangalore in Karnataka and Patliputra Junction in Patna in Bihar via Chennai Central. Relevance

Sanghamitra was the daughter of Emperor Ashoka of the Mauryan Empire who ruled Pataliputra,the present city of Patna.

History

This train used to run from Chennai Central every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30PM. Then in early 2001 this train was extended from Yeshvantapur Railway Station departing at 7:00AM on Tue and Thu with numbers 6595/6596.

Later by 2005 this train was made daily (Except Friday's) departing from Bangalore City railway Station up to Patna Junction. This train used to run daily between Bangalore City Junction to Patna Junction.

Traction

Sanghamitra sf express is hauled by a WAP7 Loco of Royapuram shed between Bangalore and Chennai. It is then powered by a WAP4 loco of Itarsi shed between Chennai and Itarsi. It is hauled by WDP4D loco between Itarsi and Allahabad. Finally a WAP4 loco of Mughalsarai shed leads Sanghamitra to its destination Patliputra from Allahabad.

Timings

This train leaves Bangalore City on all days at 9AM to reach Patna on all days at 9:20AM. The train leaves Patna on all days at 19:55 to reach Bangalore at 20:40 on all days.

This train goes through ((Bangarpet)), Jolarpettai, Arakkonam, Chennai Central, Gudur, Nellore, Vijayawada Junction, [sirpur kaghaznagar]Nagpur, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Allahabad and Mughalsarai.

The loco reversal is done at Chennai Central and Allahabad Junction .
