Boon Keng MRT Station (NE9) is located on the North East Line on the Mass Rapid Transit system in Singapore, serving the area of Kallang. It is located at the junction of Boon Keng Road, Towner Road and Serangoon Road, near the Whampoa River.
History
A part of a building, the Bendemeer Shopping Mall had to be demolished to make way for the construction of this station. The remaining portion of the building continues to be used for retail purposes today.
Art in Transit
Art in Transit at this station (Metamorphosis by Lim Poh Teck) features a bright tropical-themed painting on the concourse level, consisting of icons of everyday life used in the past and present.[1]
