CargoLogicAir, LLC is a new UK based cargo airline and subsidiarity of Volga-Dnepr Airlines. It will operate scheduled cargo services as well as charter service[3] from its base at London Stansted Airport[4][5] on routes between the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.[6] All the flights are planned to be operated via hubs at Manchester Airport and London Stansted Airport, although which has not been announced yet. The airline was expected to be operating by mid-November 2015 but due to delay of receiving the its AOC operation start have been delayed. The airline is aiming to become the leading airline in the European air cargo market offering cargo services on scheduled and charter flights.[7][8]
History
The airline was established on June 23, 2015 by Amsterdam-based Volga-Dnepr as the sole shareholder to work in a partnership with airline AirBridgeCargo. AirBridgeCargo have significant problems with operating on some routes and with this new partnership with CargoLogicAir the plan is to make these operations possible. AirBridgeCargo (ABC) have for some time been looking for an EU based airline to open a partnership with and make flights to Africa and Latin America possible as the airline lacs of these routes. ABC has continued to state its interest in Martinair, on either a partnership level or as a stakeholder. This won't be changed with the startup of CargoLogicAir.[9]
AirBridgeCargo have been looking at operating its 747-8F, between Manchester and the US. Already it has taken on several of the staff from Global Supply Systems, the former operator of British Airways World Cargo three 747-8 F's.[10] CargoLogicAir is expected to take advantage of traffic rights its sister company AirBridgeCargo does not have under its Russian AOC and start operations with routes into Africa, that ABC do not covers now.
CargoLogicAir is almost set to start operating and received the required Type A[11] AOC.[5][7] The airlines management and crew are now in place the first aircraft, a 747-400F, is painted in the airlines livery and are undergoing test and training flights in the UK after receiving its registration,[12] G-CLAA.[5][13]
Destinations
CargoLogicAir have so far operated a number of charter flights to destinations such as Bari, Frankfurt and Munich.[14][15] It is now planning to start scheduled operations to the following list of destinations.[15]
Fleet
The CargoLogicAir fleet consists of a Boeing 747-400 with an average age of 11.3 year.[17] It previously flew for sister airline AirBridgeCargo and is leased from Aircastle.[5] It has been speculated that some of the 20 Boeing 747-8F on order for AirBridgeCargo will enter service with CargoLogicAir.[10] By 2018 CargoLogicAir expects to have a fleet consisting of five Boeing 747 cargo planes. It is set to get a second 747 in July 2016, this time a 747-8F.[18][19][20]
