Fryšták (German: Freistadtl) is a town in Zlín Region of Czech Republic. Between the cities Zlín and Holešov, situated on the Fryštácký stream, it is to be found under the Hostýnsko-vsetínská hornatina mountain range on the interface between Moravian Wallachia and Hanakia.
History
Early records documented in the 14th century, January 15, 1356: "... Nicolaus Luce de Freystat clerius Olomoucensis diocesis, publicus auctoritate imperiali notarius ...".[1]
By the 19th Century Fryšták was notable, both for agriculture and wood production. The fire of 1841 obligated Fryšták's typical wooden buildings to be replaced by more modern buildings. By the latter 20th century a contemporary wave of building with construction of many new houses included the installation of modern infrastructure such as natural gas lines and telephone networks.[2]
