Metallica concert chronology |
The Kill 'Em All Tour was the 1st major concert tour by American thrash metal band Metallica. The tour, which was sponsored by their record label, Megaforce Records, was in support of their debut album, Kill 'Em All, which was released on July 25, 1983, two days before they the Kill 'Em All for One Tour started. The band would then be supporting New Wave of British Heavy Metal band, Raven, who were promoting their album All for One, for that portion of the Kill 'Em All Tour, hence then name, Kill 'Em All for One. The band would also support English heavy metal band Venom for the 7 Dates of Hell Tour as well as Twisted Sister during their 2nd leg of Europe along with some of the U.S. shows prior to the the tour in Europe while they headlined the rest of the shows of that tour with support acts such Anthrax, Armored Saint, etc. The tour took place in both the United States & Europe. The concert setlists mainly consisted of all of the songs off of their debut album as well as cover songs that played in their early days, such as Diamond Head's "Am I Evil?" & Blitzkrieg's self-titled song. Also, songs that would eventually be released on Ride the Lightning were included these setlists as well, such as "Fight Fire with Fire," "Ride the Lightning," "Creeping Death," & "The Call of Ktulu", which was under the working title "When Hell Freezes Over" until the band recorded Ride the Lightning between February 20 & March 14, 1984 during the tour after which the song would then be officially called "The Call of Ktulu." Overall, the tour was major success as the band had gotten their feet in the door & put themselves on the map as pioneers of thrash metal with a great debut album. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
