List of current United States governors
The following is a list of incumbent governors of the states and territories of the United States. Among the states, there are 31 Republicans, 18 Democrats, and 1 independent that hold the office of governor. Additionally, 1 Democrat (Alejandro García Padilla) is registered with the Popular Democratic Party of Puerto Rico. The Mayor of the District of Columbia, Muriel Bowser, is a Democrat.
State governors
The current term ends in January of the given year for every state except for Alaska, Hawaii, and Kentucky, where the term ends in December of that year's election. The notation (term limits) after the year indicates that the current governor ineligible to seek re-election in that year; the notation (retiring) indicates that the current governor has announced their intention not to seek re-election at the end of the term or to run for another office.
