Balika Vadhu (English: Child Bride, Child Marriage) is an Indian soap opera that airs on Colors TV. The story which is set in rural Rajasthan traces the arduous journey of a child bride from the brink of childhood to womanhood.[2]
It is currently the longest running Hindi daily soap on Indian television with more than 2000 episodes.[3]

The show had two seasons titled Balika Vadhu — Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte (English: Child Bride — Strong Relationships of Tender Age, Child Marriage — Strong Relationship of Tender Age) and Balika Vadhu — Lamhe Pyaar Ke (English: Child Bride — Moments of Love, Child Marriage — Moments of Love).[4]

Plot
The story which is set in rural Rajasthan traces the arduous journey of a child bride from the brink of childhood to womanhood.[2] First season focuses on the life journey of Anandi and Jagdish, who were married in childhood. The second season reflects the lives of Anandi's daughter Dr.Nandini (Nimboli) who was also a child bride, Dr.Amit Goel and Krish.[4]

Animated spinoff
Chhoti Anandi is an animated series that first aired on Colors TV on January 17, 2016. It is one of the few Indian animated series to feature a female protagonist.[13]
US version
Balika Vadhu US version will be broadcast in August 17, 2016 on CBS.
