Mekhliganj (community development block) is an administrative division in Mekhliganj subdivision of Cooch Behar district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Mekhliganj and Kuchlibari police stations serve this block. Headquarters of this block is at Changrabandha.[1][2]
Geography
Mekhliganj is located at 26°21′N 88°55′E / 26.35°N 88.92°E.
Mekhliganj community development block has an area of 288.64 km2.[2]
Gram panchayats
Gram panchayats of Mekhliganj block/ panchayat samiti are: Bagdokra Fulkadabri, Bhotbari, Changrabandha, Jamaldaha, Kuchlibari, Niztaraf, Ranirhat and Uchalpukuri.[3]
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Mekliganj CD Bloc had a total population of 155,250, of which 150,767 were rural and 4,483 were urban. There were 80,052 males and 75,198 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 110,595 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 1918.[4]
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Mekhliganj CD Block was 92,803, out of which 52,956 were males and 39,847 were females.[4]
