Sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase D (EC 3.1.4.41, sphingomyelinase D) is an enzyme with systematic name sphingomyelin ceramide-phosphohydrolase.[1][2] This enzyme catalyses the following chemical reaction

sphingomyelin + H2O \rightleftharpoons ceramide phosphate + choline

This enzyme hydrolyses 2-lysophosphatidylcholine to choline and 2-lysophosphatidate.
