The Srinagar Metro is a rapid transit proposed for the city of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The proposed system consists of 2 corridors span from Gallandar in Pulwama district to Narbal Chowk in Budgam district and another from Nowgam Railway Station to Ganderbal .[1]
History
Jammu and Kashmir state government has planned to introduce a metro rail system in twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu. Government has hired an infrastructure development enterprise, RITES to conduct a traffic analysis. The government has planned to approach Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for a detailed project including feasibility and financial viability.[2]
Route
Two corridors have been planned by Srinagar Development Authority(SDA).
- Corridor 1: Gallandar-Pampore-Sumarbugh-Panthachowk-Sonawar-Dalgate-Lal Chowk-Jehangir Chowk-Batamaloo-Bemina-JVC-Parimpora-Zainakote-Lawaypora-Narbal Crossing.
- Corridor 2: Nowgam Railway Station-Bagh e Mehtab-Chanapora-Natipora-Rambagh-Mehjoor Nagar-Jawahar Nagar-LD Hospital-Jehangir Chowk-Barbarshah-Baba Demb-Khanyar-Nowhatta-Hawal-Alamgari Bazaar-Bagh-e-Ali Mardan Khan-Nowshehra-SKIMS-Soura Buchpora-Pandach-Ganderbal.
